An angel earns his wings
Even the weekend was very busy. I don’t get to post on Titans as much as I’d like to and the few times that I spent online on the site were at the admin panel, fixing mods’ profiles or moving threads around. I wanted to write an entry for the latest project, this time with Abe, Pinoy.Urban.Blog, which the master envisioned to be the lifestyle guide to urban living. What sets it apart is that it’s about events, destinations and generally, Manila life through the eyes–keybooards, more like– of the site’s nine bloggers. However, accessing any Wordpress blog feels like a royal kick in the backside. I wonder if it’s due to the PC’s configuration or our Smart Wi-fi connection, which many customers still find faulty. Still, that’s better than no internet connection at home especially when I have to work late or look for non-work related info on the net.
I was at the CCP last Friday to watch Ballet Philippines’s “An Angel Earns His Wings“, the company’s light-hearted Christmas offering. It tells the story of Mikey, a playful and often mischievous angel who unwittingly falls from the edge of the clouds down to earth where he meets and falls in love with Mikaela, a pretty schoolgirl who reciprocates his affection in a way he does not expect. While on earth, he sees people only with a playful eye as he wanders about his merry ways. Along the way, meets a party of beachgoers, but the fun unexpectedly ends when the rains fall and Mike finds himself alone again. In his solitude, he learns to look at the world around him differently. He meets Mikaela for the second time and their meeting becomes an occasion for the angel to serenade his muse. (At this part of the program the audience was even invited to sing along to Mikey’s “When You Say Nothing at All”.)
Still, Mikaela does not yied and so Mikey finds himself abandoned once again just when he has learned the meaning of true love. While nursing his broken heart, he crosses paths with the handicapped boy whom he abandoned in their first meeting. This time, Mikey gives a gift to the boy who learns how to walk without the help of crutches, as if by magic.
All these do not go unnoticed by the angels from heaven. His change of heart is rewarded with a pair of wings and he flies back to heaven with the bevy of angels who are no other than the party at the beach.
“An Angel Earns His Wings” runs from December 3 to 19 at the CCP Main Theater with showings at 10AM, 2PM and 8PM. Tickets are available at the CCP Box Office and Ticketworld outlets. Call 832-6011, 551-0221, 551-1003 or visit Ballet Philippines’ website, www.ballet.com.ph.
Since I’m not allowed to snap pictures inside the theatre, all I’ve got are pics during the autograph signing. I don’t ask for autographs, LOL! My companion does. :-*
